Mussel Fest

This weekend was the annual Mussel Fest in Coupeville on Whidbey Island. Lucky us, Diane and Ken live on Whidbey and even in Coupville and invited the whole crew up for another year of fun, mussels, and good company.  This year was an extra special treat because Great Grandma flew up from Sacramento to join in the fun, meet new baby Wes and hang out with the whole gang.  We had a great time and although I didn't take many pictures, trust me, it was fun. :)

We rented a little house just down the street from Ken and Diane's.  This was our amazing view.  I have a feeling we'll be staying here again...

Saturday it was a little chilly, so we went bowling at the local Ebey Lanes.  We rented 1/3 of the lanes (there are 6 total) and thankfully Matt could step up and take charge of score keeping and turn announcing so all 10 of us got it done.

Olivia helped keep score.

The group: Amanda, Grandpa Mark, Aunt Diane (in back), Joanna, Great Grandma (in back).

Sunday we headed into town for the festivities.  There were cooking shows, a kid's concert, and the mussel chowder contest.  We had lots of fun and lots of delicious mussels.

Sunday afternoon we realized that our opportunity to catch the ferry snuck up quicker than we liked and he had to jet out of town in a flash.  It was sad to go, but we plan to see all these great folks again very soon.
