This Sunday we woke up to a bright sunshiny February day. We had promised Paul that we would go play if the weather was nice. Well, with the sunny day we were all excited to get out. Once we got out there, turns out it was pretty cold. We even got snowed on a little. We had a great walk on the dock and ran into a few friends in town and remembered why we love this little town so much!

Soup Cook-Off and Small Town Conspiracy
Kathy and I competed in the Indianaola Soup Cook-Off this weekend and had a great time!!
Last year we took 3rd in our first ever soup cook-off and were really looking forward to doing even better this year.
We made Kathy's Italian Sausage Tortellini Soup that's always a hit with the crowds. Lots of people turned out, including Uncle Mike and Aunt Amanda!!
We definitely had the biggest soup pot. That should be an award.
Paul and Olivia got to join in the fun too!
This man (Terry Kelly - now a bad word in our house) has won either the Chili or Soup Cook-offs for the past 5 years. There is a LOT of speculation about who and how the counting of the ballots is done... He did win 1st place this year, but the crowd was not too thrilled to see him appear on stage.
We didn't place this year, but we had a great time and saw lots of new and old friends in Indianola. 'They' can run a rigged competition if they like. We'll just come to enjoy some great food, good friends, a wonderful small town community, and a few drinks. Take that Terry Kelly!!!

Here we go again...
When I was about 27 weeks pregnant with Olivia I ended up having to go to the hospital and get some meds to slow down some pre-term contractions. I don't think I was fully going into pre-term laber, but the doctors were worried enough to give me the drugs and have me spend the night. What followed was 3 months of worrying that my little baby was going to show up too early and not fully cooked. I took it really easy and tried to take great care of myself.
I was REALLY hoping to avoid all that nonsense this time. I would stay well hydrated, get plenty of rest, and just feel great the whole time... That didn't quite work out. Matt travelled to Rhode Island last week and DC this week after a short weekend break back home. That left me and the kiddos to play on our own and regular work for me.
Well Tuesday rolled around and I went for a "long" walk at lunch (10 minutes there and back for Subway). About half way my belly started hurting. It continued for a couple hours and got worse rather than better, so I headed back to the hospital. They ended up giving me some medicine to slow contractions again, but I didn't have any other signs of pre-term labor. So everything should be fine. Now I'm back to worried, but pretty sure this baby's gonna hang out for a lot longer. And this is just another reminder to slow down and get rest when I need it.
