Paul's First Fish!!

Kitsap County hosted an awesome event this weekend, Fishing Kids.  They provided a fishing pole, lots of volunteers to help the kids, and even penned in the poor little trout to one small area of Island Lake Park, prime for the pickin'.  The kids got to fish for an hour and the only rule was that they needed to reel the fish in themselves.  No parent help.  The parents could cast, but then handed the poles over to the kids.  I wondered if Paul was a little young, but he LOVED it and fished the whole hour.  He finally caught his first fish with about 10 minutes left and he was SO excited.  He reeled it all the way in and then was fascinated checking out his fish.  What a fun day!!

This was my favorite part.  The fish cleaning tent.  My husband is very serious when he says, "I don't clean fish." So if I want to take them home, I have to be prepared to clean them.  Today, I got off easy.
They even had face painting for the littler kids.  Olivia was thrilled and told me she wanted a butterfly.  Then a man in regular clothes asked her if she was going to get her face painted.  Since she currently (and hopefully forever) hates strange men, this totally freaked her out.  Ironically, she was totally fine with the clown.

Also ironically, after Paul spent an hour fishing, all he wanted to do was get his face painted like his sister's.  The grass is always greener.

Great Grandma Visits!!

We were so lucky to have Great Grandma come visit to meet new baby Will and hang out with the other 4 Washington cousins!!  All the family came to our house for a wonderfully loud weekend. We went for walks with bikes, played on the beach, rolled around in the dirt outside, and had a round of adult rides down Andy's dirt bike path.  The weather was pretty good and the company was awesome!!  We feel so lucky to have great weekends like this and can't wait for many many more!!

The 3 big kids are turning into very good friends.  Paul and Olivia went to bed before Henry and family got here.  Saturday morning, the very first thing Paul said was, "Is Henry here?!" and ran downstairs to play.  And it's cute to watch cousin Henry follow Paul's lead (for the good and the bad).  Miss Olivia does what the big boys do, but in her own style, and she throws in some extra personality so she won't be forgotten!  Wes is getting ready to move and loved watching the big kids.  Will was pretty mellow through the weekend and wasn't bothered by all the noise.

 The babies!!

Olivia enjoyed her lifesize baby to push in her doll stroller.

Nothing has changed since my childhood.  Andy still likes to dig in the dirt.
