Kitsap County hosted an awesome event this weekend, Fishing Kids. They provided a fishing pole, lots of volunteers to help the kids, and even penned in the poor little trout to one small area of Island Lake Park, prime for the pickin'. The kids got to fish for an hour and the only rule was that they needed to reel the fish in themselves. No parent help. The parents could cast, but then handed the poles over to the kids. I wondered if Paul was a little young, but he LOVED it and fished the whole hour. He finally caught his first fish with about 10 minutes left and he was SO excited. He reeled it all the way in and then was fascinated checking out his fish. What a fun day!!
This was my favorite part. The fish cleaning tent. My husband is very serious when he says, "I don't clean fish." So if I want to take them home, I have to be prepared to clean them. Today, I got off easy.
They even had face painting for the littler kids. Olivia was thrilled and told me she wanted a butterfly. Then a man in regular clothes asked her if she was going to get her face painted. Since she currently (and hopefully forever) hates strange men, this totally freaked her out. Ironically, she was totally fine with the clown.
Also ironically, after Paul spent an hour fishing, all he wanted to do was get his face painted like his sister's. The grass is always greener.

Love it!!! They are so cute. I laughed out loud. Good job Paul, reeling it in!
