Matt and I were oh-so-lucky to get to celebrate our 5 year anniversary (6 months later) at an all-inclusive resort in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico!! Paul and Olivia stayed home for the week with Grandma Kathy, Grandpa Les, and Grandma Dawn. They all had a great time (besides getting the flu).
Matt and I really enjoyed ourselves and didn't do much at all. We sat by the pool, sat at our private area at the beach, took long naps, slept in, read books, played cribbage, ate wonderful meals by the beach, had a romatic dinner on the beach, went on a sunset cruise, and enjoyed lots of tasty beverages!! Our room was amazing, the spa was awesome (and free!) and we really loved the chance to hang out again without all the chaos of daily life.
We plan to do a trip like this, just the two of us, every 5 years. It was wonderful! We really missed our babies towards the end of the trip and it was great to come home to their smiling faces and giggles. We had a camera casualty on day 2 of our trip, but since we didn't go out much, there weren't too many pictures to miss. The disposable camera we bought really left some quality to be desired, but we have our memories!
The airplane ride without kids was maybe the very best part of the whole vacation. No snacks to collect, diapers to change, tantrums to avoid, babies to entertain!!! It really set the mood for our whole vacation.
This was the liquor tap IN OUR ROOM!!! I know, it seems very dangerous, but luckily, there are drinks everywhere, so we didn't kill ourselves with unlimited top-shelf liquor in the room.
Enjoying our first night of beach paradise.
View from our first roomdecent (but we looked into 7 rooms to look at the beach and over a roof). More on this later...
Our favorite restaurant. The food was pretty good and the view was outstanding. We ate most of our meals here.
This was our private beach section. There were 32 chairs total. The most people that were in this area at any one time all week was... 4. Pretty amazing.
Our resort from the beach.
Pool time!!This was the very last picture our camera took. No idea how we could have dropped the camera at this point.
This was my view most days.
Sunset cruise. So fun.
This was the view from our second room we moved into on day 2 after just a bit of complaining. Turns out they save the really great rooms for those who speak up... politely. It was perfect.
Romantic dinner of steak and lobster on the beach. The food was delicious. They set 16 tables, but we were the only 2 at dinner!! It was wonderful.
So much fun with my best friend. I'm so glad we made this trip and can't wait for our next adventure!
